I depends on the effect you are hoping to achieve. Sometimes i want the sun directly behind the subject but generally I shoot with the sun behind me or to the side, slightly behind the lens curve. Practice and see what you prefer at various times of the day.

Get the d90, simply of its video. If ur shooting in daylight all the time, all 6+ MP slr will produce good quality (unless ur doing large format professional printing). d90 and 40d has same image quality, but d90 has slightly better noise sensitivity than 40d, even slightly better than d300. You dont need extra 2 frame/ second. If u got more budget, i would get d300s or 7d. For me, i just got D300s upgrade from d80.

  10. Capesports4 Says:

Go with the EOS 50D …
Go with the EOS 50D. Has a faster burst rate and has lower noise at at ISO 6400 than the D90. The 50D goes up to ISO 12,800 but has alot of noise at that level. However the D90 has video.

    hey camera fans,

    hey camera fans,
im looking at 2 cameras, either the canon eos 40d or the nikon d90.
my backgraound is as a skateboarding photographer (toungue in cheek but thats what im using it for) aswell as everyday travel photos as i go about my life lol
im struggling to dcide between the additional megapixels and aperture capobilities (high speed shooting in low light conditions) of the d90 or the 6.5 frames a second of the canon. soz if i mad any idioty mistakes in this, but all helps good :)

    if i knew i was …
if i knew i was going to be this interested in photography to begin with and need the features, i would have not gotten a D60 and should just gone for a D300 first. but then again, we’ll never know, and now i have both. but if you are willing to dig for more info on cameras and learn lots about how to use them and how to take good pictures, any decent one can be good enough. but the lens…it’s very important too, and it’s going to cost a lot!

  16. GLXLR Says:

Suggest you get a cheaper body and get better lenses… This camera will have a huge learning curve.

Note I’m looking for a professional grade camera that can take great quality pictures,I’m not a professional but I enjoy the art and would like to get started,I’m looking to take serious creative images what would you recomend?

    The DSLR’s are not …
The DSLR’s are not about point and shoot, and you shouldn’t even compare them to compacts. With a compact you can print the usual 10*15cm photos, not Panels like 2*3m as you can do it with a DSLR. The size of the sensor does matter or you think that the medium format cameras are as good as the compact ones to? If you just want to take some family trip pictures, the compacts are better, but with a DSLR you can produce art. The D300 is one of the best cameras I’ve tried ever, if not the best.

  20. coolinen2007 Says:

    yeah ofcourse you …
yeah ofcourse you can change very different and quality lenses
1 good lense starts from 500 euro/$ and any dslr that you can find for 500$ not going to be any different then average compact

    are you kidding me?
a good dslr set gonna cost something like 4000 $ minimum
I can sacrifice a little quality and both take pictures, videos and carry with me where ever i go with the prize of 400$
    anyways

  21. johnyxrebel Says:

    most compact …
most compact cameras you will see huge differences, but there are some that i have seen like my kodak M1033, its a decent camera, i still prefer SLR’s and DSLR’s over all but its 10 mp and takes really good pictures, i only got it because it was cheap and i couldn’t afford a decent DSLR, but its a pain to try to get it to take a picture the way you want it to so SLR’s still beat compact cameras

  22. johnyxrebel Says:

    compact cameras are …
compact cameras are alright for photography, but DSLR’s are still a lot better, you can change out different lenses and you can do so much more than you think. not all DSLR’s really cost that much i’ve seen really good ones for about $500 that were 12-15 mp brand new and i tested them out and they did fine. the compact or “point and shoot” cameras are just for people that want to take the picture quickly and move on without worrying about making adjustments

    Well done to you!!! …
Well done to you!!! I will sell my D300 and 18-200 nikkor right now because of your “valuable” comments. Because you are very right picture quality is same for DSLRs and compact micky mouse toy cameras…

Well by the way I personally would recommend you to get your eyes checked, as you know there is a HUUUUUGEEEEEEEEEEE difference in the pictures taken by DSLR and compact cameras
